FAQs

What is the benefit of full-spectrum hemp oil versus an isolate product?

  • Full-spectrum hemp oil products have the advantage of the “entourage effect", where all the cannabinoids and terpenes work together - something that isolate products lack.
  • Unlike CBD isolate products, full-spectrum hemp oil products include a wide range of cannabinoids present in the cannabis or hemp plant, all of which work in harmony and deliver optimal efficacy and results.

What is CBD?

  • CBD is an acronym that stands for cannabidiol, which is one of at least 113 cannabinoids found in the flower, leaves and stalks the hemp plant.
  • CBD is a naturally occurring molecular compound found in hemp (also called industrial hemp) the non-psychoactive variety of the cannabis (marijuana) plant. While Maine Coast Hemp products have trace amounts of THC (0.3% or less, pursuant to current Federal regulations ), they will not get users "high".
  • The fact that CBD-rich hemp oil is non-intoxicating makes it an appealing option for users looking to bring balance and wellness without disconcerting and disorienting feelings of acute lethargy and dysphoria.

What's the science behind using CBD?

  • Cannabinoids interact with and mimic endocannabinoids found in our bodies and, together, interact with our bodies’ cannabinoid receptors. These receptors reside throughout our bodies and have been shown to influence sleep. appetite, mood and memory.
  • Studies have found that receptors – the CB1, CBD2, 5-HT1A and TRPV1 receptors among others – located throughout our brains and bodies are indirectly impacted by endocannabinoids and phytocannabinoids like CBD. When exposed to CBD, these receptors are activated and neurotransmitters are stimulated and can positively influence your well-being, for example. CBD has also been found to activate the 5-HT1A receptor to trigger serotonin and illicit feelings of pleasure and motivation.

Why should you consider using CBD?

  • CBD-dominant hemp has long been valued for its therapeutic benefits and has a history of being used to promote health and well-being. Thousands of scientific studies suggest that CBD may offer a wide array of potential benefits – without the psychoactive effects of the THC-rich cannabis or marijuana plant.

How does CBD Work?

  • The endocannabinoid system is a network of receptors throughout the body that maintain homeostasis, affecting everything from sleep and appetite to mood and memory in our bodies.
  • Studies have shown that CBD oil is an agonist of the endocannabinoid (ECS) system, which means it is a substance which initiates a physiological response when combined with a receptor.
  • The two main receptors in the system are called CB1 and CB2. When activated, they work to promote balance and well-being.
  • Our bodies naturally produce endocannabinoids, however, there are times our bodies fail to produce enough of an endocannabinoid.
  • When a body’s natural chemistry does not produce enough of a given endocannabinoid, cannabinoids like cannabidiol (CBD) may mimic our natural endocannabinoids to produce a desired effect such feeling as refreshed, relaxed and lifting mood.
  • When you consume CBD, you introduce its cannabinoids and terpenes into your body where they are metabolized. Once metabolized, they enter the bloodstream and can bind with CB1 and CB2 receptors.

How much should I take?

  • Everyone’s endocannabinoid system (ECS) is completely unique to them, therefore everyone’s dosage of CBD can vary.
  • Some people can take far more CBD oil than others. We strongly recommend starting with a smaller dose and working your way up to where you feel most comfortable and feel all of the oil’s benefits.
  • It is important to know that CBD can interfere with the absorption of some medications. Before beginning any CBD regimen, consult your physician - particularly if you are pregnant, nursing, chronically ill, elderly and/or taking medications.
  •  It is also important to understand how CBD works, how CBD is extracted from the hemp plant, how CBD can be ingested/consumed, how full-spectrum hemp oil offers the benefits of CBD and more, and how to source the highest-quality full-spectrum hemp (CBD) oil and products.
